Sassy Salsa
I don’t know many people who don’t love salsa. It’s easy to just open up the jar and pour but making it homemade is honestly just as easy and it tastes so much better, not to mention free of a lot of preservatives. This is a simple and delicious classic salsa recipe that anyone can make 😉
Ingredients:
Makes 4-6 Servings
- 1 14.5 oz Can of Hunts Diced Spicy Red Pepper Diced Tomatoes
- 1 14.5 oz Can of Hunts Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes
- 1 10oz Can of Rotel Tomatoes (I use original but use what you’d like)
- 3 Cloves of Garlic (crushed)
- 1 Cup of Fresh Cilantro (washed and patted dry with a paper towel)
- 1/2 Cup of Diced Red Onion
- 1/2 Cup of Diced Sweet Vidalia Onion
- 1 Jalapeno Pepper (stems and seeds removed and chopped, if you want more heat leave the seeds in the pepper)
- 1 Medium Lime (juiced and set aside)
- 1 tsp of Granulated White Sugar
- 1/2 TBSP of Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 TBSP of Red Pepper Flakes
Directions:
You will need a food processor
- Add your canned tomatoes to the food processor, if you want a chunkier salsa drain the tomatoes, add the juices for a thinner salsa
- Put your garlic, fresh cilantro, red onion, sweet onion and jalapeno in with your tomatoes.
- Pulse to blend them all together, usually 4 times is plenty
- Now add your jalapeno’s, sugar, black pepper, red pepper flakes and lime juice
- Pulse a few more times or until desired consistency
- Serve with fresh tortilla chips or toasted baguette bread slices
