This is a very simple recipe for fresh spaghetti sauce when you don’t have garden tomatoes available. This is so much better than any jarred sauce and a much healthier variation as well, add your meatballs or sausage, cooked, to your sauce along with the juices from the pan for some extra flavor 😉
Ingredients:
*Cook on stove top for about 6 hours or Crock Pot for 6-8 hours
- 4- 28oz Cans Furmano’s Italian Style Diced Tomatoes (w/basil-garlic-oregano)
- 2- 28oz Cans Furmano’s Crushed Tomatoes
- 3- Large Sweet Peppers (Green, Yellow, Orange or Red)
- 1- Hot Pepper Diced Finely (I use Jalapeno’s but you can use any kind you want if you don’t like spicy leave this out)
- 2- Vidalia Onions Cut Into Thin Slices
- 1- Whole Garlic Bulb Peeled and Crushed
- 2- TBSP Crushed Red Pepper
- 3- TBSP Dried Oregano or 5 Fresh Oregano Leaves
- 3- TBSP Dried Basil or 5 Fresh Basil Leaves
- 1 1/2 Cups Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
Directions:
- Mix all the ingredients together and bring to soft boil. Reduce heat to low and continue cooking for about 6 hours stirring occasionally.
- For the crock pot just put all the ingredients in mix together well, cover and cook on high for about 6-8 hours
